We’ve taken our experience in swimming pool construction and concrete resurfacing to create the specialized trade of swimming pool resurfacing. We left the big and slow moving industry of swimming pool construction to focus exclusively on being a pool resurfacing contractor in Scottsdale. Pool resurfacing has a much faster turn around time, has more demand, and allows us to complete many more projects per year. It’s a win for our clients and a win for us. Most of the other pool resurfacing companies in Scottsdale cannot compete with our workmanship, competitive pricing, and outstanding results. In addition to pool resurfacing, we do pool deck resurfacing, spa resurfacing, and any other kind of concrete resurfacing.
Scottsdale residents look at their swimming pools and spas as their own private oasis. There’s truly nothing better than a cool refreshing swim in your nice clean swimming pool. Building a swimming pool is a 1-time thing, keeping it clean is a routine thing, but keeping the surface of your swimming pool in a healthy condition is a once in a great while thing. Pool resurfaces usually last between 10-20+ years all depending on the quality of the materials used, workmanship when installed, cleaning record, and other things like chemicals/water chemistry and UV light also play a role. Resurfacing a swimming pool is a significant expense, but a necessary one if and when your pool requires it. We are a professional pool resurfacing contractor in Scottsdale that knows exactly what works in our beautiful climate for a durable, long-lasting, and beautiful surface that will last a very long time. Resurfacing a pool or spa or a pool deck is an opportunity for a new look or a simple “make it as good as new” usually does the job. We specialize in swimming pool resurfacing and pool deck resurfacing as our main business to save you money, give you exactly what you want, and give you the perfect result you expect from a specialized contractor.

What really happens with pool resurfacing?
If you haven’t done any research about pool resurfacing, it’s easy to be led astray. You’ll inevitably come across talk of chemical bonding, quartz finishes, and all sorts of other services. It’s not uncommon for us to come across customers that may have the wrong idea about what to expect based upon a quick internet search or two. To make sure you’re not left in the dark, here’s a bit more info to help you understand just what goes into our pool resurfacing services:
Often, tile and concrete pools need to be resurfaced once every decade, if not every five years. The same is true of decks as well. Fiberglass lasts longer, usually between ten and fifteen years. It’s important to know which type of material you have, but don’t worry if you’re uncertain. We will be glad to help you sort that out once we’re on the scene.
There are a few different resurfacing options that might apply to your pool. These include the use of materials like cement aggregate, tile, fiberglass, and concrete. Here’s what to expect from each one:
Concrete
Concrete is one of the most popular options since it is durable and affordable alike. It can last for as many as seven years without the need for further work. It is generally straightforward, but colored options can help liven up the pool if that’s your desire.
Cement Aggregate
Cement aggregate takes cement and mixes in additional materials. This usually means small bits of granite, quartz, or even tiles. This is very affordable, and the mixture will liven up the look of your pool. There are a few types to choose from, including pebble and “Diamond Brite.” Be sure to inquire about your options when you get in touch.
Fiberglass
Fiberglass is another choice with lots of aesthetic options, and it has a lot of staying power. It doesn’t have to be cleaned as often as some other options since there are no pores along the surface.
Tile
Tile resurfacing will give you further options to choose from, such as porcelain, glass, or ceramic. Each option then has additional subsets of choices you can make. This versatility makes tile a popular option for those that are hoping for the most glamorous pool possible. Please note that this is the most expensive option. The upside is that this is a long-lasting resurfacing style since you’ll only be dealing with small chips or cracks that can easily be cracked over the following decade.
Of course, Scottsdale Pool Resurfacing can answer any questions you have regarding your options for pool resurfacing. We will also be able to help you out with drain channels, non-slip options for your floor, draining covers, sealers, repainting, epoxy, and expansion joints. We’ll provide you with a free estimate before we do any work. There’s no pressure to commit to anything until you’re delighted with the plan we set forth.
Resurfacing costs for concrete - What can you expect?
So, when weighing all of the options such as colored concrete, plain concrete, upgrades to pebble finishing, upgrades to tiles, and aggregate, the price of your resurfacing job may vary a lot. As such, it’s hard to give you specifics. We can fill you in on which factors will affect the price the most.
Above all, the size of your pool is the most critical aspect of the price Scottsdale Pool Resurfacing will have to charge. The shape matters as well. The more curves we’re dealing with, the more intricate the work becomes. The materials that we end up working with will determine the remainder of the cost. You will have to pay a bit more if you’re looking to get specific patterns applied to the finish.
Concrete, either colored or plain, would be the least expensive material for you, whereas pebble would cost the most. If you want to know which pool resurfacing option will last the longest and give you the best deal, you should definitely consider Diamond Brite. It is affordable, sturdy, and looks great. This material usually lasts a little over a decade. It only needs a single acid wash within that time frame to stay looking as good as new. With that in mind, be sure to ask us more about that option when you get in touch for your quote.
If your existing pool finish is plain concrete, you can always upgrade to another option, such as Diamond Brite. Even Diamond Brite itself can be upgraded further to something like a pebble finish. Be sure to let us know what you have in mind, and we will do everything possible to make your dreams a reality. The upgrades may cost more, of course, but they give you a lot more quality and longevity for your pool. We’ve never had a customer tell us they regret going up a tier or two from what they had originally. We have lots of before, and after pictures, we can show you if you need some help deciding which way to go.
What can you expect to pay for fiberglass resurfacing?
As with concrete, the price of fiberglass pool resurfacing will depend mainly on how big your pool is. The shape won’t be as important in this instance. Fiberglass resurfacing utilizes a gel that is easier to work around curves.
The shape of your pool plays a big part. If you have many cracks that need to be filled in, expect to pay more than you would otherwise. Our team is well versed in those types of repairs, so rest assured we will make it look brand new again. When you get in touch with us, have the dimensions of your pool ready, so we can get you the most accurate price quote.
Pool deck resurfacing services
Scottsdale Pool Resurfacing also offers repair and deck resurfacing services. Here are just a few of the options available:
* Repair for pool tiles
* Repair for pool fiberglass
* Repair for decks
* Repainting for decks
* Resurfacing of decks
* Replacements for handrails and ladders
We will be happy to offer any of these services to you as part of a full-on resurfacing job. We can also provide basic repair work on a standalone basis if needed. Whether it’s filling in small chips and cracks or re-smoothing your surfaces, we’re always available to help restore your pool area.
Basic pool resurfacing stages
Step 1: Drain, Dry, Dust
It might sound obvious, but this is the first step that shows the contractor’s ability. On the first day of the project, one of our team members will thoroughly drain your pool. A full inspection will also be conducted. Any vulnerable furniture surrounding the site will be identified. All of the bubble hoses and pumps will be checked to ensure they are working correctly.
Step 2: Preparation
After ensuring that everything is dry and clean, we will start to prep the surfaces to ensure they are smooth enough to work on. That will include covering up all of the surroundings, stripping the whole surface, multi-coating, and sandblasting.
Anytime you sandblast, it is impossible to not create a mess. All of our employees are committed to minimizing the dust as much as possible. We aren’t finished until we clean up everything and remove our equipment.
Step 3: Masonry and Title Installation
It is finally time to install the decorative features and tiles that you have selected for your project. At that point, the final patterns and locations will be set. So, before we start, we will need your final say and approval.
We will want to document this stage and have it signed before moving forward. The tiling can take from 1 to 3 days to complete.
Step 4: Sealant and Plumbing Checks
When it comes to pool maintenance, one of the more critical factors is water-tightness. Once we have completed the tiling work, we will devote a day to checking your plumbing to ensure it is properly sealed and ready to go. We will take care of any necessary repairs as well.
Step 5: Installation of the Pool Finish
Once the pool’s shell has been cleaned and inspected, we will install the finishing material you selected. This is when you will finally see your remodeled pool details start to show.
The process can take from 1 to 3 days to complete, depending on which material you choose. If you selected a Quartz, Hydrazzo, Pebble, or Beadcrete finish, then we will do a thorough acid wash treatment as well. It is a standard part of this process for certain high-end materials, and special personnel will handle it.
Step 6: Filling and Clean-Up
Our crew will always thoroughly clean up our mess each night following the day’s work. There will still be some extra dirt that has accumulated. That is why after we are done installing your pool finish, we will conduct another general clean-up. We will then fill your pool up, so please make sure you are around to turn the water off when needed.
Step 7: Initial Water Treatment
The initial treatment is the final step necessary to ensure the pool resurfacing job lasts. This process can take as long as seven days and might require several checks and adjustments.
Some of our Scottsdale customers prefer this step to be done by their chosen pool service professionals. We can do it ourselves, or we are happy to work your pool service. It is your choice. All that matters is that it gets done.
If you have any questions about materials, procedures, budgets, or would like to see some before and after photos of our work, please call us. Scottsdale Pool Resurfacing is ready to show you why we are the best in the business.
Why work with us?
There are certainly several other pools resurfacing options to choose from in the Scottsdale, AZ area, so why should you work with us? We will give you various insurance and warranty options to indicate just how serious we are about the services we provide.
